Mini Moodboard: About Face

The rise of the portrait. Miuccia Prada turned hers into a feminist statement for the Spring 2014 fashion collection. The designer tapped into a tribal moment by bringing in a group of mural artists, echoing political street art and setting the stage for backdrops, clothes and accessories.

On the other side, selfies are probably the most pervasive social movement of this new decade. Instagram seems to be made solely for the purpose of posting these arm's length self-portraits. Model Cara Delevigne, supermodel of the social media age, has a skyrocketing career by continuing to let us into her every crazy, waking moment. Despite her favored status, she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously, which only serves to win us over more. No doubt, these selfies can quickly turn to navel-gazing. After all, Narcissus drowned staring at his reflection in a pool of water. For better or worse, several months back, "selfie" was added to the Oxford Dictionary online, so I guess we're stuck with it for now.
